What are people saying about PLAA?
"My favorite thing was the play and clay...even though everything was fun."
- Claire Manuccia "Big painting means to me that we can be free. Draw our feelings. Draw our dreams. Draw people who are kind." - Mary Margaret Ivanjack "I am 25 years old, and I still remember the signs for 'One Light, One Sun'." (A Raffi song we have used a few times with American Sign Language). - Meg Cramer "Even though it is only spring break I can feel summer in the air. And with that feeling I always feel the excitement of Arts Academy. I have been coming to Arts Academy every year since 2003 when I was entering 1st grade. I’ve also been in drama since 2006. It has always been a wonderful escape for me to just let my artistic juices flow. Since during the school year there isn't much time to do much art. I know almost all of the people, the art, and the great feeling of being in a place you love. So if I couldn't get the opportunity to come back this year and be with all of part of it all I would feel most bleak. I could contribute many things to the program: helping out, add to the wonderful atmosphere, and mostly show kids such a wonderful time that they want to come back, like every person on the staff has always done to me." - Oliva Lytle-Barnett "My favorite thing is clay, snack, big painting, and hanging out in the classroom." - Anonymous "I liked the clay." - Ryan, Age 9 |
"Point Loma Arts Academy has been an integral part of my children's summer experience for the last ten years. It is a magical experience where the community comes together for three weeks of uninhibited creativity. My 11 year old says "it feels more like a family than like a camp." My older children have had an opportunity, as teaching assistants, to help instruct at the camp. As a result of this experience my eldest daughter has decided to pursue a career in education. PLAA is a regional treasure."
- Diana Day, 2011 "What a great experience for our daughter." - Kim and Mike Bruch "Point Loma Arts Academy has become a tradition for our children each summer. They look forward to gathering for music each morning followed by various creative art activities. Our oldest son Matt has attended Point Loma Academy of the Arts every summer since kindergarten. He is now 13, heading into high school and continues to work as a teacher’s aide at the camp looking forward to attending each summer. Our youngest son Joe is almost 10 and has also attended each summer since kindergarten. With all of the demands of school work and various sporting activities it is so nice for the kids to be involved in a camp that they can thoroughly enjoy while demonstrating creativity and self- expression in a fabulous community atmosphere with wonderful instructors. We love this program and hope others will enjoy and support it as well!" - The Innis Family 2010 |
